Brother Sun, Sister Moon: by Echan Deravy
This book is about the two most important celestial bodies in your life. The Sun and the Moon are intimately connected to our daily lives in ways that we modern people are still very unaware of. We no longer feel connected to them which means we are the most chaotic and dysfunctional inhabitants of Earth ever to have lived. We can look at photographs of the Sun and watch men bouncing across the moon but we have forgotten how to feel their (sun and moon) immense existential presence. The magic of a full moon, an eclipse or the amazing sight of both in the sky at the same time no longer touches our souls. But it was not always like that. That is why Shiramine Seiho has written this book. He has come to remind us of a past that is almost completely forgotten. It was a past when we still had a spiritual connection to the Sun and the Moon. It is a history we must not forget……
because we are children of the Sun and Moon.
In my own Western culture, especially the Celtic Culture, we always had celebrations and ceremonies all through the year to mark the harvest moon,
the equinoxes and solstices.
Sun rituals were probably performed by the Druids at Mid-Winter and Mid-Summer Solstices as well as the Spring and Vernal Equinoxes. These rituals mark periods of the greatest imbalance between the Sun and the Moon, as well as the periods of greatest balance. Perhaps the Druids used the Solar days for Magic and Divination. They involved hidden Druid rituals. There is also evidence of a Neolithic Sun cult in the British Isles and Ireland. To the Celts, time was circular rather than linear. This is reflected in their commencing each day, and each festival, at dusk rather than dawn. This is a custom comparable with that of the Jewish Sabbath. It is also reflected in their year beginning with the festival of Samhain on 31 October, when nature appears to be dying down. The first month of the Celtic year is Samonios ( Seed Fall) In other words, from death and darkness springs life
and light.
Another reason for the importance of night in the Celts' reckoning of time is in their regard for the moon and the feminine principle which it represents. It is also true that the Druids・ most sacred plant, mistletoe, was associated with the sun. However, the waxing and waning of the moon was of far
greater importance.
The Celts showed their respect for the moon by using euphemisms such as gealach (meaning‘brightness’), and never referring directly to ‘the moon’. Manx (the island of Mann) fishermen followed this custom up until the nineteenth century, referring to the moon as ben- reine ny hoie -‘queen of the night’. The earliest-known Celtic calendar is the Coligny calendar, now in the Palais des Arts, Lyon. It dates probably from the 1st century BCE, and is made up of bronze fragments, once a single huge plate. It begins each month with the full moon, and covers a 30-year cycle, comprising five cycles of 62 lunar months, and one cycle of 61 lunar months. It divides each month into fortnights (two weeks) rather than four weeks. The days are designated (from their long observation of cycles) as MAT days (good) or ANM days
(not good). Each year is divided into thirteen months.
The Coligny calendar achieves a complex synchronization of the solar and lunar months. Whether it does this for philosophical or practical reasons, it points to considerable sophistication. Of course modern Celts do not observe the solar and lunar festivals just as modern Japanese have forgotten the ancient ways. It is my belief that our disconnection from Nature and our disregard for the energy (and the consciousness) of the Sun and Moon have contributed to the spiritual desert we now find ourselves in. Children are taught that the Sun and Moon are‘things’. But of course they are much more than that. Saint Francis of Assisi, one of the greatest of all the Catholic Saints who lived in total poverty (after renouncing his rich and noble birthright) always referred to these great orbs in the sky as‘brother Sun and Sister Moon’. This later became a movie directed by the great Italian director Franco Zeffirelli. By deciding to live in extreme poverty he became aware of how important are the Sun and Moon-and also how beautiful. He felt them purely because he had no distractions. We are now almost totally
distracted!
Shiramine Seiho has a unique background to write this book. He has a long history of ancestors behind him who really understood the Sun and Moon. He is a highly respected geomancer and so he understands nature at a very profound level. The moon deflects the solar wind from hitting the Earth. So if the moon is behind the Earth and the Sun is in front the full power of the solar wind will hit Earth. The very complex gravitational attraction of these three celestial bodies (Sun, Earth, Moon) actually became the basis of chaos theory. It is easy to figure out the gravitational effect of two bodies in space but three makes the problem extremely difficult. So these three celestial giants are like the archetypal triads that we find everywhere such as body, mind and spirit. Their relationship is absolutely critically important to your
daily life.
The moon is definitely far too large to be a natural satellite of the Earth. You only have to look at all the other planets in our solar system to realize that. They are all tiny compared to their host planets. My research discovered Nasa data which found elements in a bore sample from the moon that do not exist in our solar system. The moon came from somewhere far away a long time ago it seems. But we have forgotten all of that. We have lost our moon knowledge and our solar consciousness is almost dead. We actually try to escape from the Sun's light! Shiramine Seiho is also very telepathically gifted. Most recently I again reconfirmed this. I was at a party in Tokyo following a conference about‘subtle energy’. I was speaking to an aikido master who knows Mr. Shiramine. He asked me to give his best regards to ‘Seiho’next time I met Mr. Shiramine. Fifteen minutes later I received a call by satellite telephone from Seiho! I had not spoken to him for several months yet he chose the timing to call me just after a close associate of his and myself had been talking about him. People in the past had this level of intuition because they were connected to the total environment, to the universe. I think it is very important that we reclaim that ability. The power of the Sun and the Moon will no doubt help us to do that if we just open our minds once again. Please then use this book to open your hearts also.
Brother Sun and sister Moon will be happy to welcome you home…….
